Track Workout . . . Not So Bad

So Justus talked me into doing the blog thing. That, and the fact that it's the number one item on Runner's World's list of 101 motivations, and I could sure use some motivation.

So today I did a track workout. It wasn't too bad, actually. 7 x 800 at a goal of 3:30 pace for each one. I averaged between 3:15 and 3:25 and walked for a minute between each one. I did have a bit of nostalgia as I was running, and that combined with the fact that track workouts are repetitive by nature, I started day dreaming to make the workout go quicker. So this probably sounds really lame, but I was imagining I was running a track workout that called for eight repeats, and if we (I was imagining running with a group and not just by myself) could run our seventh 800 in under three minutes, we could skip the eighth. So I got to skip my eighth 800, which I really didn't skip because I only planned on doing seven from the very beginning so it's not like I was really getting out of anything. Anyway, that's just a glimpse of how my mind works when I get really bored running. I'll imagine almost anything to make the run go by quicker.

Also, there was an old man who looked to be in his 90's running on the track. If I am still running when I am his age, I will have won. What I'll have won I don't know, but I'll have won.

1/2 mile warm up
7 x 800
1 mile cool down
