I have officially decided that I have hit the wall in my training. Each run is getting harder and harder, I'm going slower and slower, and it's taking me longer to recover. Last night I ran a 7 mile easy run. My pace was around 9:00, and I was way too fatigued for that kind of pace. I have also have a new pain to add to my journal. Reallyreallyreally tight calf muscles. They tensed up really bad about a minute into my ran, so I stopped and gave them a quick massage. That seemed to help and I was able to complete the run, but when I finished, they felt really tight again.
So I have two more chances to run before this Saturday when I go to Hawaii for a week (yeah!). Tonight I plan on doing a track workout. Then Friday should be a long run if I am to get in all my runs this week, but there's no way I can do a two hour run after work. So I'm thinking about splitting the distance and doing an hour in the morning and then an hour after work just to get in the miles.
I originally planned on trying to carry out my training in Hawaii, but now I'm thinking just taking the time off. I'll probably run a few times, but maybe not worry about my training calendar and then just continue when I get back. I'm hoping that will lift me up over this wall and I can continue running. Otherwise, I think I'm seriously looking at a 4 1/2 hour plus marathon next month. We'll see in the next week how my body resonds to the torture I'm putting it through.
