I really haven't been enjoying my runs recently due to fatigue and pain and even boredom, but my Saturday run was great and it reminded me why I keep running even though it is very hard and frustrating sometimes. It wasn't a great run because I felt good, and in fact I didn't really feel any better than I have been. But the weather was nice and I ran a new trail (the Billy Goat Trail) for a portion of my run along the Potomac. It was just a beautiful run and it was nice to get out of the city for a while to a place where there is no sign of city life.
I was enjoying the run so much I didn't want to turn around and go back. But it's a good thing I did because it finally started to wear on my about an hour and fifteen minutes into it. I ran about nine minute miles for most of the run, stopped to get a drink several times, and even stopped to stretch a couple of times. I was just enjoying being outside and felt no pressure to run hard or fast or to push myself at all. I did push the last mile just to see if my legs could still handle it and ran about a 7:00 mile, which left me quite exhausted. But it was a great run and was just the motivation I needed.
12.5 miles
1 hour 48 minutes
