7 Mile Slow Run

In an effort to ease my fatigue problems, I tried cutting back on my intensity. I think I will cut back on the intensity but not my mileage to see if this helps. So I ran 7 miles at an easy pace. Previously, my easy paces have ended up being around 8:00 - 8:15 minute miles. This time I had to really hold myself back. I even stopped to walk (20-30 seconds) a few times, not because I needed to, but because I wanted the run to be easy not just on my lungs and heart, but on my legs as well. Anyway, my legs still felt fatigued, but hopefully if I cut back this week and next, it will make a difference. It was hard to keep my pace around 9:00 though -- I kept thinking I was going too slow to get anything out of the run, but I just need to remember I'm building endurance on long easy runs, not speed or strength.

I also have a theory for my side aches I've been having (surprisingly I didn't have one tonight). Last week I had about 9 vials of blood taken for some blood work so I can be a guinea pig at NIH in a study. Perhaps the lowered RBC count was just enough to give me a slight annoying side ache. I noticed the sideaches immediately after I gave the blood. Could just be a coincidence and I know correlation does not equal causation, but it's my theory.
